Born in New Jersey, and raised between Dakar, Senegal and Florida, Seynabou Cisse never thought modeling was a job she would end up pursuing. After moving to New York City at 18 for college, Seynabou studied Public Affairs and Communications. While working at the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, a picture of her taken by a co-worker was shown to Photographer Heather Hazzan, who insisted she get into modeling. Taking Hazzan’s advice, Seynabou signed with JAG, and has since worked for various clients including Sephora, Christian Siriano, Victoria’s Secret, Maybelline, American Vogue, and most recently the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK.
Currently, Seynabou is working on her own sexual awareness brand, JOUE. Born out of conversations with women in Dakar, Seynabou realized there was a gap for learning and exchanging information in regards to sexuality and sexual wellness; especially in places like Senegal where such topics are considered taboo. Seynabou also works with The Love Kitchen, a food pantry in New York City, The United Nations Population Fund, and For The GWORLS, an organization that protects and encourages trans women of color.
